We've been very quiet here this year (haven't we all) regards competing so far. We sold our lovely little 7.5t lorry earlier this year to upgrade to something bigger with more payload and more space. We couldn't believe how some lorries could potentially cost more than our own home! We couldn't justify virtually another mortgage so amongst our full time jobs, horses and motorbikes (because we clearly don't have enough to do!) We decided to build our own!!
Homemade 18t DAF pending....hopefully we will be finished in time for a few smaller shows at the end of the season... Wow, another year has flown by! Once again it has been a real pleasure working with all my clients; and seeing what you have been achieving during this year. I hope you (and your horses and ponies!) all enjoy a well earned seasonal break and come back refreshed in the New Year. Again, thank you all and have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Alfie has been back out, at very short notice and a late entry when we ended up with a "spare" day (thank you Richmond EC for fitting us in!) It has been a while since Alfie has tried a Medium test and so I was really pleased with a 64.82% score in Medium 63.
Today we took the gorgeous Finn to Misty Blue Show for his lovely owner Rachel. What was meant to be an educational day out turned out to be much more; 2 wins in his classes, Ridden Champion then finishing on taking the Supreme! Can't ask for much more! Super Finn! Minty and Wally back out.....following a earlier outings with Alfie and Bea in the ribbons!5/9/2017 We really enjoyed the Linda Shanks Memorial Show this year where Minty did us proud again with wins in the most promising class and novice horse ridden class. This was such an achievement for Minty, being the first time ridden away from home. Also having a great day out were client Laura and the lovely Fudge, finishing with the Reserve Supreme award! Meanwhile we had Wally out at BD at Richmond Equestrian Centre for the first time in some months whilst we have been working on a bitting issue. Finally back and taking a second in the silver novice section.
And the previous week was another fantastic team day out! Horses entered from Intro through to Elementary all getting well earned ribbons and placings, including our own Alfie with a win in the Elementary and Bea gaining more experience with a 3rd in her intro class. A massive well done to client and friend Laura for their win and another ride for myself on her beautiful mare, Splash. Finally an awesome result for friend Charlotte absolutely smashing the prelim with another win! ![]() It is time for a bit of a "news" round up over the last few weeks. In June we had Alfie back out at Holmside after 18 months off competition and he turned in a 69%+ performance in his Elementary test; totally thrilled with this! And it has been a busy few weeks with rescue pony Minty at in hand shows at Ivesley and at Whitburn, taking some ribbons in each. He is also being ridden out now a bit more in the arena, and for this first time out on the field! Bea, our very green mare has been back too, this time at Low Haining Dressage for a couple of Intro's, with some ribbons as well. Bea took blue in one and red was taken by client Laura and her super new mare, Splash! I took the ride on Splash in the Prelim and she performed exuberantly to take red on 70%+ making a great day out for Laura and myself! Meanwhile back at home , Willis has been in training and modelling some new Horzehoods gear at the same time.
![]() Bank Holiday Monday at Northumberland County saw me turning my hand to a bit of showing with a ride on the lovely Flashy for Laura. Finishing 6th in a big class helped settle the nerves about a new discipline!!! ![]() Then this weekend we ventured out and had a fantastic day at Misty Blue summer show with our own rescue pony, Minty. We are delighted he walks away with a red ribbon for the Inhand Coloured with a qualification to Equifest! The progress he has made from when he turned up as a rescue with a very uncertain future, is very rewarding in itself!
