As you might realise from the facebook page not long after writing the last blog and into December, I had a nasty accident at work resulting in a lot of soft tissue injury, and a broken arm. Just as Wally gets back into work then I'm off :-( But we did manage to get to the Winter Regional at Morris Equestrian Centre in Scotland at the weekend to take up Wally's qualification. We can now plan the next season.....fingers crossed! Images courtesy of Equiscot Photography
Thank you also to all my clients for their support whilst I was unable to drive and work. I am pleased to say I am fully back!! After a massive 16 months out of BD competition due to a sequence of injuries and illness, we have had Wally back out over the last few weeks to get some winter regional qualifiers under his belt. He has performed well for us after his time off and was needing only a couple of points more but on Wednesday this week pulled out a 75% score to complete his qualification!
Well after a long spring and summer that was marked by injuries and illnesses among the horses, we are finally back to bringing the team back up to fitness. Alfie has been to the beach for some salt water therapy (and some fun), and we will be heading out with Wally again over the next few weeks. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the winter season, but in the meantime a big thank you to Clevedale Vets for keeping everyone right!
We have been out with Bea (Hillgarth Queen Bea) in the last few weeks giving her some more competition experience at Intro level . First off we were at the native dressage show at Seagold to finish individual 2nd with a score of 70% - and overall the Section D team finished 2nd. She also won best of breed for her classes. We then finished the afternoon judging at the same venue with some fantastic native ponies coming forward to compete. Always good to see! Then this last weekend we had another run out to Northallerton, where Bea turned in a 68.2% performance and 3rd in her class, a performance that we were very pleased with! Useful practice!! It is fast approaching KSL-Equine's first Christmas, and I want to take this chance to say what a privilege it has been to work with all my client's over this year and with the partnerships you have with your horses. So have a very Happy Christmas and my best wishes for a successful New Year in 2016 for you all.
In the last couple of months we have had a few "ups" with our horses: Wally and I at the Sheepgate U.25's finals, Alfie at the BD Area Festival, Queen Bea's first Intro test at Northallerton (with some ribbons) and of course Minty's "big day out" in hand at the Linda Shanks Memorial Show (also with some ribbons). Logan takes his starring role now in our Christmas card. Then in the last couple of weeks a big "down" as Wally was struck with a bad case of colic, with out vets on hand very quickly (big thank you Michele). After a few days Wally was back home but it was the most worrying time and I am so grateful for the understanding of the clients who had appointments rescheduled whilst we dealt with it, and also for the many messages of concern and support I received - Thank you! So have a very Happy Christmas, a well deserved break and lets look forward to a hard working and rewarding 2016! We are a little late blogging this, but last weekend we took Minty on his first ever outing; to the annual Linda Shanks Memorial Show. We were tremendously pleased that this little pony won his first ribbons, a second place in one class, but also a first in the In Hand Coloured class! It was good to see some clients out enjoying the show, Amy on Lady T well in the ribbons, and also one of the younger riders, Jess on her lovely pony Grace. A good day out! As you may be aware BD has been fundamentally revising it's competition structure. It published the final version last month. Following this they have published an amended version online to correct a few errors and to show some expanded examples. We are still getting our heads around it, but think it is going to be a positive change for our sport! And in case you missed the magazine here is a quick link for you to read the full article on the BD website.
Some great news from one of my clients; two good scores for Amy and Lady T in their first ever BD event! Only one more needed for a qualification card through to the BD Area Festival! So proud and genuinely pleased for this combination!
